Vila Sol's superb championship golf course, created by English designer Donald Steel, offers players a full 27 holes, a number with inspiring distant views. Host to the Portuguese Open for two years running, the course runs through a centre valley and has been lovingly sculptured from the contours of the land. It encourages a game of tremendous flexibility, with three loops of 9 holes, Prime, Challenge and Prestige, each delivering separate and distinct types of challenge, yet each blending effortlessly into the next.

The excellent Golf Academy will help you hone your game and improve your handicap. The course rests in a woodland setting of umbrella pines, fig and almond trees, and 300 year-old cork oaks. The large timbered terrace of the stylish, wood-panelled clubhouse overlooks the 18th green, and players enjoy a TV room, card room and lounge, a pro shop, sauna, turkish bath - and of course, a large, comfortable bar area, leading into a first class restaurant, L'Olive.
